BIO

Gayle L. Curry is an Oklahoma artist, designer, and passionate advocate for the arts. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions throughout the state, including the Oklahoma State Capitol, the Gaylord-Pickens Museum, Science Museum Oklahoma, and other notable venues. She was commissioned to create an installation for the Samis Education Center at the University of Oklahoma and was selected to participate in the Oklahoma Arts Council Leadership Arts Program. She also served as the 2015–2016 Skirvin Hilton Artist in Residence. Gayle creates from her studio at Studio Six Gallery in Oklahoma City's historic Paseo Arts District, where she continues to explore the expressive possibilities of encaustic

wax.

After years of working in a variety of media, Gayle discovered her true passion in encaustic painting. This ancient medium, composed of beeswax and pigment, allows her to combine the disciplines of painting and sculpture while balancing precision with spontaneity. Through layers of molten wax, texture, and movement, she creates works that convey energy, emotion, and transformation.

Inspired by the fluid and ever-changing nature of wax, Gayle's artwork captures moments suspended in time. Each piece reflects a journey of movement, memory, and discovery, inviting viewers to experience the depth, luminosity, and tactile beauty that make encaustic art uniquely captivating.
