Vessels and Altarscapes is a collection of layered, mixed-media works that honor the female form as both container and foundation—vessel and altar. The body is examined as a source of strength, not only through relationships—sister, mother, grandmother, friend—but through its own capacity to endure and evolve. Heket, the ancient frog goddess of transformation, stands behind this evolution—a reminder that change, like the body, is something to be carried rather than feared.

Drawing on Ireland's dry stone walls, the collage technique mirrors that construction: fragments holding form without mortar. Torn paper and mark-making accumulate into compositions that hold shape through layering alone. Each piece carries this duality, bearing the weight of lived experience while honoring the collective strength of women—built piece by piece, the way memory accumulates.

The collection is framed by two artist residencies in Ireland, where stacked stone in the surrounding landscape became both material reference and working method.

Leslie Hamrick is a mixed media artist known for exaggerated forms, strong lines, and layered textures. She earned her BFA from the University of Kansas and a Master's in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In midlife, Leslie returned to her studio practice, weaving fragments of her past into collaged compositions that explore identity, transformation, and connection. A Signature Member of the National Association of Women Artists, she has exhibited throughout the Midwest, Southeast, and Ireland, where she was twice awarded an artist residency. In 2024, Leslie returned to her hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she continues to expand her practice.
