DYKE NIGHT

 “Dyke Night” is a night to celebrate and embrace the dyke. We will dance, connect, and find solace in symbols of queerness- Including performance work by Zoey Bowden. $15

Zoey Hughes is an expanded media artist from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Science and Arts in 2024, receiving a Bachelors of Fine Art with a concentration in expanded media. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Museum Science and Management at the University of Tulsa. Hughes has participated in shows such as Living Art’s “Living: An Arts Experience”, Art Wrecker’s “Art Breaker” and “Viral”, and Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition’s “Momentum” in 2023 where they were awarded an honorable mention.

In my work, I open a sardonic eye towards the fleeting nature of self in a world enmeshed in technology. I put on display the consumability of stereotypes and the solace they can bring to LGBTQ+ individuals in a red state. Fitting yourself into neat text boxes can bring both personal comfort and public harm. I enjoy placing the viewer in a space of uncomfortable familiarity. My goal within my work is to cause, even briefly, a moment of absurd reflection.
